Empower IM has signed an agreement on the transfer of Stora Enso's Imatra-based energy control room's trade operations to Empower starting at the beginning of March. The new agreement expands the existing customer relationship, since the monitoring of Stora Enso's regional network around Finland has already been the duty of Empower's control room.

In addition to daily Elspot trade in Nord Pool electricity exchange, the new agreement covers round-the-clock services, such as operations on electricity and natural gas markets as well as duties of a balance responsible party.

"Empower's vast experience as a service provider for both energy markets and industry convinced us. By outsourcing routine operations, we will be able to focus our resources on supporting the core operations of the company and concomitant decision-making," says Jukka Mikkonen, Director of Stora Enso Energy Services in Finland.

"We are pleased that Stora Enso trusts us also in energy market services," says Risto Viitanen, Service Director at Empower IM Oy. "Energy market operators increasingly appreciate our ability to provide both technical and commercial services 24/7, which gives us an up-to-date understanding of the customer's current situation at any given time."

Stora Enso is a strategically important partner for Empower Group in its entirety, the Industry Division of which provides maintenance services, for example, to Stora Enso's Anjalankoski and Sunila mills.
