Empower's Power Network Division in Sweden has won a public tender and has signed a contract with Svenska Kraftnät for installation of the top line and opto cable on an existing 400 kV overhead power line. The total distance is 80 km, split into two sectors - one in the vicinity of Ånge and the other close to Ljusdal. One of the most important selection criteria in the tender was work safety.
Planning work has already begun and installation will take place during the power interruption in June and July. All work will be performed by Empower personnel, where the project organisation is made up of the Swedish Empower Power Network Division and by assembly in Empower's Lithuanian company. During the power outage, around 30 engineers will be at work, and the work will be led by project manager Camilla Friman. In a comment she says:
"We are very pleased to have been given this project. It is a receipt for the good work that we have previously carried out on Svenska Kraftnät's trunk network. It is also especially pleasing because one of the absolutely most important criteria in the tender was safe working practices. Our passage through the selection process indicates that Power Network Division is regarded as being a reliable partner that sets a high priority on work safety."
The contract is worth around SEK 9 million.
