Turnkey project to install AMM electricity meters
To Vantaan Energia we delivered a turnkey project in which remotely read electricity meters were installed in approximately 63,000 locations.
The processing of energy data, from the meter to invoicing, is largely carried out automatically by information systems and as an exchange of data between the systems. Installing the energy meters that are feeding these systems with data requires employees to work in challenging conditions.
Strengthening the occupational safety culture is an important focus area at Empower. This was also emphasized when we were hired by Vantaa for the VES AMM100 project. Empower was the main implementing party and consequently responsible for arranging safety plans, risk assessments and training. Notwithstanding difficult conditions, there were ultimately no workplace accidents in this project. This was achieved by identifying any possible risks in advance and preparing plans and instructions to minimise the risks.
Empower received special thanks from Janne Hartikainen, measuring service manager at Vantaan Energia, for the project planning and occupational safety.
– An accident-free project is always a great achievement, especially in this type of project, where more than ten people performed 63,000 electrical installations and drove over 250,000 kilometres in a year and a half. It is our principle that there should be no compromises in occupational safety. Success in occupational safety starts from the attitudes of every individual. Vantaan Energia Sähköverkot Oy made it clear from the very beginning that occupational safety is one of the key points in the project. Working like this allowed us to reach our goal of zero accidents, Hartikainen says.
